Idols
As the western world drifts away from the knowledge of the living God, ancient idols are coming back in vogue and, like overpaid divas, are getting more demanding. Upping his already hefty contract rider, the god of consumerism, aka Mammon, is now demanding human sacrifice.
“It’s good to be making a comeback,” agreed a spokesman for Moloch, another ancient god known for demanding child sacrifice. “With the coming of Christ, the knowledge of us (the pagan gods) was almost eradiated in the western world. Fortunately, the End Times apostasy is in full swing. The great falling away is underway and we’re now reclaiming our rights. It’s good to be a god again.”
Ancient gods have been worshipped in most cultures and often demand sacrifice and worship. The Bible calls such creatures, “demons.”
“We’re out of the closet,” said a spokesman for the devil. “Even the Christian Bible declares that ‘men love darkness because their deeds are evil’. People are fed up with the narrow way and are looking again to the ancient gods. Yes, call us gods. We find the term “demons” pejorative. We’re here to offer a broader, more tolerant, way but we do demand sacrifice.”
Mammon declared, “You want material goods cheap on Black Friday? Fine. Just remember that Christmas is now our day. Mammon rules. The more mayhem, the merrier. And if a few store clerks get stomped to death in the process, that’s the price of greedy consumerism. Let the sacrificial blood flow. You’ll get your $9.00 toasters.”
Consumer groups suggest caution before entering bloodthirsty shopping crowds during the holiday season. The Bible is right: you can’t serve two masters. You either serve God or Mammon. Western culture seems to have made the choice for Mammon.
Secularists and pagans finally got their wish: Christmas is no longer about Jesus. Let the buyer beware.

Yes! it is long past due that we opt-out of the pressure to give up our true Christmas celebration for the “give-me-something-I-don’t-really-need-to-prove-I-am-loved-and-accepted-or-at-least-put-up-with-and-make-it-cost-a-lot-to-really-really-prove-it” that has taken the hearts and souls of O so many.
Good stuff, keep poking us in the eye…so we can see better in the end.
