Zombies. They’re all around us, the living dead. They may look normal but inside they are ghastly creatures, lost souls, who feed on flesh. I’m talking about spiritual zombies.
SheepTrax Undercover is investigating a radical new approach to ministry, actually talking to zombies in their own language about the Bible’s promised living hope. God, merciful as always, has made his Gospel so simple that even the living dead can comprehend it, turn from the corruption that is in the world through evil desire, and find eternal life.

SheepTrax: Err, yes, stained with sin. Good. You’re paying attention. Now, because you are descended form Adam, and sin entered the world through his disobedience, and death through sin, we’re all born as the living dead. We’re all spiritual zombies needing to be reborn by the Holy Spirit. Our lives are driven by futile self-effort, feeding on our flesh – and the flesh of others – why, even at our best we’re marred by despair and pain…

SheepTrax: Yes, I do feel your pain. So does God. He let his son Jesus die on the cross…to die for you…to die as you… to purchase your freedom from sin. His loss is your gain.

SheepTrax: Right. Lose the world but gain the kingdom of God. Very good. The world consumes and devours each other like confused, carnivorous sheep in need of a shepherd to guide and lead us to safe places of still water and green plains…

SheepTrax: … to live your life to the fullest as you grow in the image of Christ, free from the bondages and chains…
Zombie: Chaaaiiinnnsss…
SheepTrax: … Right, chains… of sin. Good, you’re getting this. (pause) Are you ready to leave this life of living death behind, abandon all effort at earning God’s forgiveness, and instead trust in the mercies of Christ before the drawing of His Spirit wanes…?
Zombie: Waynes? Yuummmyyy…
SheepTrax: No, you flesh eating monster of iniquity, wanes. Not Waynes like in Wayne’s World. Wanes as in, you know, comes to a stop, ceases. Desists. (pause) Look. There comes a point when God withdraws his offer of grace and leaves you to your choices, in your case, living death. Wouldn’t you rather have the barrier that separates you from the healing love of God broken so you can enjoy forgiveness, peace of mind, learning to then walk in the power of His Spirit as he trains…

SheepTrax: Yes, trains you to live a holy life that is pleasing to him. I mean, without holiness no one will see the Lord. “’Come, let us reason together,’ says the Lord”…

SheepTrax: Reason, brains. Got it. Back to that are we? (Sigh) Let’s keep this cryptic. Now stop trying to bite me and let’s pray asking Jesus to reign in your heart.
